Comp Cams sells a video called "How to properly build a small block Chevy" that I heard was supposed to be pretty good. Might want to check it out and let us know what you think of it...

Received & watched the video from Comp Cams last night. "How to properly rebuild a Small Block Chevy Engine" was made in 1989, runs for 70 minutes and covers the most basic of assembly tips. Among some of the things covered are: keeping assembly area & parts clean, tools you'll need, reference books needed, cleaning block just prior to assembly, checking main bearing clearances with Plastigage, installing cam using alignment marks, checking ring end gap clearance, ring orientation on piston, piston/rod install, installed spring height checking, head installation, etc...

This video is probably not necessary for someone who has already sucessfully built engines before. But, if a beginner has lots of questions about assembly, this might just be the answer, combined with a good reference book.
