Is my way of thinking on this right.
My engine seems to like about 15-16* initial timing(no vacuum connected at this point) and 32* total(vortec heads) My distributor gives me about 20* mech advance. With manifold vacuum connected I am at about 24* at idle
Now if I set initial to 16 my total ends up too high, but if I set it to 12 my total is dead on but idle quality is down
So I have bought a Crane adjustable vacuum complete with springs and cam limiter plate. If I use manifold vacuum I assume I can adjust the vacuum now to give me the best possible idle.
