Do all '71 ss chevelles have the same interior. Did the ss package always include Tach/gauge package and bucket seats, or was this an option within the ss arena? I have seen an ss recently with a bench seat and regular dash with shifter on the colum. Is it true you can only tell a true ss by the engine code/serial number. I aprreciate any answers.

All 71 SS chevelles have a round gauge dash.
Idiot lights, bench seat, column shift were standard
Gauges, Buckets, Floor shift were options.
All 71 SS's were BB. If last 6 digits of engine pad # match last 6 of VIN AND it is a BB, then it is a true SS.

Au contraire, all '71 Super Sports were not big blocks. You could actually get a SS307 - how sad.

I have a true 71 SS that came with a 350 2bbl column shift and bench seat.

I think what Steve meant by "BB" was "bitchin' bowties" - right Steve? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif
