Hey Folks,

i'm in the process of currently doing a 4 wheel disc brake swap on my '64 malibu...i have 2 questions:

1. how am i supposed to route the parking brake cables? it appears the new kit has 2 lines that are supposed to run into the cabin which are hooked up to a bracket which then attaches to the pedel, but the original system only had one cable which routes through the frame and goes into the cabin which then attaches to the pedal. am i supposed to drill some new holes in the floor to route the new cables?

2. for the rear brakes which side of the axel is the caliper bracket/caliper supposed to be mounted towards, the front of the vehical or facing the rear?

rough day today trying to work on the brake swap...the booster didn't want to fit the bolt pattern, couldn't figure out of to route the parking brake cables, and getting the spider gears back in was frustrating to say the least.

I think you should specify the manufacturer of your aftermarket brake system (or from which model they come from) if you want answers.

thanks for the heads up...they are from a company called MBM brake boosters...they are the same kit as CPP.

i believe they are the caddy rear brakes. i see CPP offers an adapter cable which goes from both rear brakes into one cable which then attaches and hooks up to the original intermediate parking brake cable i think, i think thats going to work...it is another $80, might have to hold off hooking up the ebrake or drill some new holes in the floor.

can anyone confirm for me that the parking brake routes through the driverside frame toward the front? has anyone out there replace their parking brake cable from the pedel?

install your brackets and calipers so that the bleeder screw on the caliper is up.

Did you buy direct from MBM? Thought they only sold to their dealer network? Can you call them and ask about the e-brake cable deal?

hey Tom,

i actually purchased from a dealer, not directly from MBM. i believe the parking brake cable setup might be for a floor lever and not a pedel...just my thoughts. i'll try to give them a call and see what they say. i purchased these 3 or so yrs ago but just now finding the time to swap everything.

i'll post an update if i ever get it installed or go a different route in case any others run into the scenario.

any advice is still appreciated :D
