I have finally given in to the fact that I need to own my own hoist. I am shopping around at Sears and Northern Tool so far, any other places locally? Also, does anyone have a used one for sale?

Thank you for any help provided!!!

Sometimes Checker has them listed for sale pretty cheap - watch the Sunday insert. I bought mine from Northern Tool which was the one that the legs can fold up. Nice that you can free up space.

I don't know if there is an Advance Auto Parts store up there but they have a hoist w/fold up legs for around $200.

I've got a Northern unit like Enganeer's. I'm in St. Louis Park. If you need to give it a good once over, drop me a line.

If you need to use it, beer is the accepted currency around here http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Sam's Club used to sell them. That's where I bought mine. It's a beast though. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I bought mine for $150 from Kragen (checker/schuks? in other regions). Its a solid unit - team mechanix brand. The legs fold up and everything. Good deal if holds up (it pulled my 454 w/iron heads and 400 tranny). Only thing is it seems to be made by the same people who made my car jack under the brand name MVP that only worked for a year.

OK, it looks like Checkers has a 2-ton for $149.00 that stacks within itself for storage. I like that one the most as the boom is adjustable from 1/2 to 2 tons. I will still check Sam's club today. Hey, John D, is that unit of yours for sale or loan? I do have at least two swaps to do soon so it is always easier to have one on hand.

Thanks again!
