What would I use to clean the clear plastic cover effectively without scratching it?

I got some overspray on mine, and tried to clean it off with paint thinner. BAD IDEA! It dissolves the plastic as if it were paint. My dad ended up polishing it out with 1000 grit sand paper. At work we just use a soft, damp cloth to clean the plastic faces on ridiculously expensive stereo equipment, so I would try that first. Just stay away from any kind of solvents or anything like that.

I used shaving cream, worked great. I did the same thing w/ the paint thinner....bad idea.. Had to sand it out. We learn from our mistakes...But dont use the cream on the gauges, it took off the numbers in my odometer....had to paint them back in by hand. Looked good. Good luck
