Crate motor from the '90's. Just wondering. It is a generation IV, so I'm thinking yes. Just need confirmation.

Thanks!

Its not a tall deck 454 block if its a crate motor. The largest crate talldeck was for Heavy trucks only and it was a 427. more common is the 366 TALL DECK. Do A search

Tried a few different searches and didn't find much. Thought it would just be easier to ask. The post below (Any problems with 10069284 Mark IV tall deck? (http://www.chevelles.com/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=012335)) got me curious is all.

Thanks again!

The XAA crate motor is a standard deck block, open chamber rectangle port heads, 10.2 compression, standard hp mechanical cam.

One thing that is interesting here is b/c it probably won't be too much longer until the new Vortec 496 Truck engine gets into the "used-parts" pipeline!!

I mention this b/c it is a tall deck block of, I think, Gen VI design..

Heck, it may be a Gen VII design b/c of the big counterweights on the crank, I don't know???
Plus, I forget if it has siamese cylinders or not so don't know how much it will ultimately overbore..

I think it is 4.25"b x 4.37"s with 6.7" or so long rods, so would make a dandy stock stroker if the tall deck doesn't cause problems.

I think Jakeshoe is into one of these so maybe he might chime in...
