Here in Canada, air wasn't very common back then except for the more expensive cars Buick, Cadillac etc. and even then not all got it. With our climate, it wasn't considered necessary and wasn't affordable for most. As people became more affluent, even Canadians wanted their air. Look at any car from the sixties with the GM of Canada documentation and the list of options is usually pretty short. Not too many without it today and are hard to sell if they don't have it. I would think that a Beaumont with air would be VERY rare. I've never seen one. Most of us in Ontario would appreciate a car like yours this summer with all the heat and humidity. Enjoy, you probably won't see another one :)

I have only seen 1 with factory air. It was a 69 that went to Puerto Rico when it was new.
Robert, tell us about your car. What year, color, body style, etc.... Pictures would be great.

Who needs air when you have manual windows... :(

Not sure of that! I was told that a Beaumont (especially with one with a big block engine) wasn't available with a/c. However, it definitely can be done and appear original. Proof is that there is a guy living not too far from me who restored a beautiful '68 SD 396 and had a "Vintage Air" or similar kit installed. I looked at it closely and it looks factory installed.
The weird thing is that under the hood, you need a Chevelle system BUT inside the car, it's GTO components you need because of the different dash.

1968 was the first year for optional a/c... it would be very rare...and a nice option to have! I would think not very many were ordered with a tach either...post up some pics of your car! have you ordered the GM documentation? they may tell you the production number with a/c...maybe if you ask nicely!

Congratulations to the new owner. I was the underbidder on the car when it was on Ebay a few years ago. If I remember correctly, my bid was $8200 or $8300. The car was only about 2 hours from me at the time.

Nice car and colors.

I disagree!... "nice car" yes, but the interior should've been black or white, but definitely not red!...uuugh! It's too many colors on the same car (yellow, white, red...) and also, the red doesn't match with anything else on that car.

Sometimes, it's nicer to say nothing than to insult somebody who has a very rare and beautiful car.

Sometimes it is the not recommended colour combos that really pop when you see them in person. I saw an article on a 1977 Trans Am that was ordered in yellow with red interior. The owner had to commit to buying it and sign a waiver that he wanted to override the color constraints. When the car arrived at the dealer and customers saw it, they wanted to buy it on the spot!

As for factory air on Beaumonts and Canadian-built Chevelles, it only appeared on the option list starting with the 1968 models. Prior to that it was offered only as a dealer installed Comfort Car unit with the underdash evaporator unit. I have not seen a/c on any Canadian-built A-bodies from the 1960s. Two exceptions: a Marina Blue 1967 Beaumont Sport Deluxe 396 convertible featured in Musclecar Review about 10 or so years back, but that car was retrofitted with numerous options during the restoration. The only factory-installed a/c setup on a 1960s Canadian A-body that I have heard of is that Puerto Rican 69 Beaumont that is pictured earlier in this thread.
