The comp 262 Cam in a 350 TPI with slightly better than stock heads ran about 13.8 in the 1/4 with 3700lb vehicle 3.23 gears.

You're looking at about 250 to the wheels.

I think those are probably very optimistic, as you said. I'd be shocked if you made more than 400 lb-ft and 350 hp, unless you're planning on using aftermarket TPI parts. That said, TPI motors have tons of torque down low, so you'll still be able to run good times. The torque will be right where you need it driving around town, but it's tough to get TPI's to make lots of power over about 4500-5000.

I think twilight's suggestion is probably perfect. I believe TPI motors respond really well to moderate to high lift cams. Too much and you lose the down-low torque they are made for. I'm not a professional engine builder by any means, but I have researched quite a bit on TPI engines. Check around some of the third generation Camaro sites - they'll have tons of info about what works and what doesn't with TPI motors. Also check out www.chevytalk.com. (http://www.chevytalk.com.) There's lots of good fuel injection help there.

Good luck!

Go to www.tpis.com (http://www.tpis.com) ...find everything you need to make a 14sec grocery getter or a 10sec blvd bruiser. :D
