I have a 68 Chevelle with a 69 396/375 hp motor in it. What is my rpm redline? I think the motor is stock except for external bolt ons. :confused:

This will keep your Mean Piston Speed (MPS) under 3,500 ft/min (a good guideline for your stock engine). 427L88 Jan 10th, 04, 8:34 AM Wow 5500 rpms huh. Well if thats your redline, next time you set valve lash, set it 2-3 thou loose. It will clatter more and give you more midrange. I would think , in good condition, that's a 6000 rpm motor easy. Factory redline would have been 6500. | ||
