Should have the same domed pistons as a 350hp 402 but it has 9 to 1 compression ratio and the same camshaft as a 69 325 hp engine. Motor probably pulls hard on the bottom but runs out of steam by 5,000 rpms. That camshaft is only .398 lift. The heads will say truck underneath the valve covers but are the same as the passenger heads. Should have a q-jet but I am not for sure if that intake would be a pancake or the highrise. Suppose it would be the pancake since it is a 70 but in a truck you would not have hood clearance problems.

cool, thanks for the detailed info, its nice knowing that my engine is basically a passenger car engine. its rebuilt so it got a holley 750 and a edelbrock 2.0, but im just curious about the block itself.

any ideas on how much oil i should put in, 5 quarts of 4 quarts? if i put in 5 it says 1 quart over the full line but 4 quart doesnt sound like enough oil esp for a big block...

You should add 5 qts, remember that there is one qt in the filter once you run it. The heads will be the same as a pass car. They will be 815s more than likely. The "Truck" heads were on the 366 and tall deck 427s

I have a 310hp 402 and it says truck under the valvecovers but are no different from the passenger heads I have seen. The casting # is 3975950 on the ones we have and it is a 112cc chamber.

It should be just a 2 bolt block with a cast crank same as the passenger block. The only difference between the LS-3 402/330 hp and the 310 hp is the cylinder heads. The LS-3 had closed chambered head while the 310hp had the semi-open chamber. The bottom half would be the same.
