I bought a 355 from a friend yesterday and I am wondering how I could make it go faster and "red-line" higher. I am thinking the cam makes it "red-line" higher but I don't know for sure. Need some expert opinio opinions on what some of you would do to a motor like this to run 11-13's in a 1/4. I have a nice holley 650 double pumper carb. Hooker Headers, Flowmaster 3 chamber exhaust. This motor came with stock 350 heads and 30 over pistons New Pistons. I allready know I need new rings. The old saying "never use used rings" Learned my lesson on my last motor. lol. 2-bolt main not 4. I am basically looking for a way to build this motor to lift the front wheels off the ground and make people turn their heads at car shows. Just put $7000 in the body work now comes the motor. Need as many feedbacks as I can get. Would anyone recommend MSD Ignition???

Dang, you're not asking for much. All you want is an 11 sec. Chevelle powered by a small block that runs pump gas? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif

The combination i showed you will be able to run on Pump fuel. 92 octane is the highest here in cali. 112 Race fuel will be the best at the track.
The heads that i listed are ok for around 600hp n/a but for a blower i would say going with a larger set of AFR or Brodix heads coulndt hurt. 2.2 on the intake side and 1.8 on the exhaust. or 1.74 whichever suits your fancy. Or if you want big power on pump gas and be efficient about it. Go here and buy a set of B3's or C1's for your engine. www.Araoengineering.com (http://www.Araoengineering.com) those are 32 valve heads that flow an extreem amount of air. And trhe C3's flow somthing look 530+ cfm on the intake side.
And that SSI cam wont last too long because its just a competition cam and is meant to be replaced every hundred or so races. Thats why its so cheap for what it is.
Best of luck.

Oh also, i really suggest getting a Dart Little M small block 400. You can make a Small block 504 out of that suckers. And the block itself with 4 bolt splayed main caps is $2000. Its like $2200 for the Billit caps if you choose those.

Are you wanting to keep it N/A or are you ok with running N2O? My Cuz is running a 355 in his 68 but his car is very light ( 3350) with driver but on dot tires ran 12.5's on pump gas and when he added a 75 hp shot is in the 11's. For a normal weight car his combo will still be good for low 12's or with a bigger shot high 11's. I can get his full combo if you want. I do know its a hot cam, some kind of alu vette heads, 650 carb, th-350, and 4.10 end. This is his page http://chevelle.ogleonline.com/barry.htm
He foot brakes it right now. It's one of the better running 355 combos I know about and not to hard on the wallet.
