I'm putting an Edelbrock Performer (non RPM) intake on my '67 283. The current problem is that the offset water neck (hose goes to the side at an angle rather than straight out front) doesn't clear the water temp send unit. I can't be the first one to hit this snag. Would it work to plug the hole in the intake and put the send unit in the top hole (currenly plugged) of the water pump?
Thanks for any help.

There's a pretty good variety of different angles on those outlets, both vertically and horizontally. The cast iron one on my Nova sticks up with enough angle to clear. Maybe look at NAPA on line for different SB applications and pick one out or look at a parts catalog at the parts store. OR, put a flush pipe plug(allen head)in the manifold and screw the temperature sender into one of the heads. I like the cast iron ones 'cause they're less prone to leak.

Or you can get one of the polished aluminum swiveleing ones. http://store.summitracing.com/

Details Here (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SUM%2D371100) It's tall and steeply angled and it swivels, so it should do fine. I'm also hoping that being aluminum instead of plated pot metal will help this water neck last. The other option is to plug the send unit's stock hole and tap a new one - there's a pad for that purpose cast into the performer near the heater hose fitting.
Thanks to everyone for the help.
