I was at that garage sale of Mickey Thompson's "excess" collection - but I didn't bring enough money to really buy anything remarkable. If my memory serves me right there was far more rare Ford esoterica than anything else that Mickey was clearing out. Ever the businessman (and why not) Mickey got top dollar for a lot of out of date engines and equipment that all needed rebuilding. Amazing stuff - most of which he had gotten for "free" from the various manufacturers who had sponsored many of his efforts.

It is really hard to place a value on an engine block like that - no guarantee that it could even be built into a viable engine. Now if the buyer of that block also happened to own the same Corvette that engine had been raced in....well, then that would make all the difference.
