Just started my 67, 396 with a mild cam and it seems that a rocker or two is hitting on the valve covers.Wanted the newer style BB black wrinkle finish GM covers but will I have the same problem with them. Have added power brakes with stock booster so only have another inch of room there. Is there a manufacturer who`s valve covers will eliminate this problem? Thanks in advance for any helpful responses.

Could try a thicker gasket. Mr Gasket #5863. Probably #1 and #8 intake hitting. If you notice they are close to the bolt indent. Might also be hitting the drippers or breather baffels. I run a roller with a 600 lift and have no problems with the thicker gasket. Though with a roller you don't need drippers.

Are they hitting on the top or side of the covers? I just started my 396 today with new short cover and found the rockers hitting the side of the covers closets to the manifold. I found the problem being the washers that I put under the bolts were pushing the side of the covers in just fare enough to hit the rockers. I changed the washers and problem is gone.
