Do any of the parts houses offer a '70 dual exhaust kit without the H-pipe? I'd really like to get the Flowmaster setup (17107), but it comes swith the H-pipe. I'm looking for 2.5 inch, aluminized, and mandrel bent pipes. I've already got the Flowmaster mufflers, so I just need the pipes. If I cant find a good kit, I'll just have the local muffler shop put them on.

www.jegs.com (http://www.jegs.com) offers a mandrel bent 2.5" dual exhaust kit w/mufflers for less than $169 and it has no H pipe. The part # is 555-30551

What is the reason for not wanting an H pipe???? It mellows/equalizes the exhaust pulses, easier on the ears, and helps performance slightly ;)

I have the Jegs kit as mentioned above. It does not have an H pipe. It is a fairly well made aluminized mandrel bent 2.5 inch system with tail pipes that go straight out the back.

When I first put them up under the car I didnt like the fit very much. They hung to low and the brackets didnt allow much adjustment. I ended up making my own brackets and cutting a couple of pipes so they would tuck up tight under the car. The tail pipes are also made very long on purpose so you can cut them to your desired length.

I like the sound of duals without the H-pipe. These Jegs kits come with a faily standard turbo style muffler similar to a "walker super turbo". I like the sound better than Flowmasters. I always thought Flows sounded to "tinny"

If you dont mind cutting some tubes and playing around with the fit then the Jegs kit will work good. I've seen the flowmaster kits and they seem to fit real well right out of the box with no fuss.

I run 2-1/2" true duals, no H or X w/ Dynomax Hemi Turbos. Nice and quiet except when you hit the loud pedal, then all you here is motor. Also, the true duals make it sound a little a more lopey than it would with an H or X.

Didn't realize until now that the 17107 kit had a H-pipe. Son's car needs pipes and mufflers - may use the Jeg's kit although he has his mind set on Summit turbo mufflers because a friend of his says he runs 10.80's with them (like his car will be that fast).

Had a car once w/o H-pipe, but you still had to disconnect part of the exhaust to pull the driveshaft - uncool. I prefer the true dual sound too.

Thanks for all the input!

Rearding the JEGS kit:
1) Are the pipes up and over the rear axel one piece or two piece?
2) Is there enough pipe to run the exhaust out the back (like original).
3) If I use the JEGS kit, will the mufflers be located under the rear seat?

Thanks!

The mufflers are mounted in the stock location under the rear seat. At the rear of the mufflers there is a short curved pipe that goes up and over the axle. The tail pipes then connect to this pipe and exit straight out the back in the stock location. The tails pipes I recieved were very long and had to be cut to the right length.
