I have a '72 SS with a 2.73 open rear end. I have found a 3.31 posi from a '69 for $500 complete. Is this a pretty good deal and are there any problems with fitting this directly in the '72?

12 bolt posi's run about a grand around here.
Hence the rush to ford 9".

I believe it's a direct bolt-in. Do a search on "rear end" and you'll find plenty of info. Sounds like a good deal to me! I paid more than that for our 12 bolt.

Good prce if it all works and it'll fit perfectly.

One thing to say JUST DO IT and never look back, as long as the rear is in working order just unbolt the old rear, don't forget the brake lines!, and put the new one in it.

Thats a decent price, pretty much the going rate around here.. an even better deal if it comes complete drum to drum, or with a 4 trailing arms, etc. In other words dont expect to find em sittin around for that price!! grab it and go
