Can someone tell me how to remove a flywheel from a 396? Do I need a puller, or can it be pried off?
Thanks.

Unbolt it, and yank it off.
It might be a little snug on the end of the crank, but no special tools are needed.

Yep, but be prepared to catch it, it's heavier than you may think.

Yep, yep and yep to all of the above. By the way, fingers between the flywheel teeth and the floor are REAL delicate!

Also, the bolts were probably installed with lock tight, so, instead of wrenching them off and turning the crank, use an impact wrench to spin em off. Just dont re-insall them that way.

Simple,
remove all the bolts, put in 2 bolts of the same size thread, about 2 inches longer @ 12 & 6 O'clock or just opposite each other and bang it with a rubber mallot or dead blow hammer and WALAH, it's off, still attached to the crank, and, you still have a smooth floor with no chunks missing! we've all beed there huh?, I knew it, so give it a try, yeah little more time but sure keeps the fingers where they came from, the hands!
