I'm finally geting to the top frame restoration and need some help.

1. the header tacking strip is completly trash and will have to be replaced. A couple of the hold down tabs are broken that hold the tacking strips in place, any sugestions ?? can the new tacking strips be glued in place.

2. The first bow has a tacking strip on both sides of the bow, about 9 inches on both sides, is this correct ??? or is it suppose to be completely across the bow.

3. Third bow tacking strip all the way accross

Any help on these tacking strips would be very helpful,as to size of the strips that I will need. The header strip looks like its about 7/8 in. wide and a total thickness of 1/4 in.there was a double tack strip on the header. I have not found tacking strips that wide for the header. I have found tacking strips for the first and thrid bow.

Thanks Again TC Members without you my 66 would be a pile of parts.

Not being a smart ars, i think a upholstryshop that does tops may be able to point you in the right direction. Im at this point as well so you asked the question for me.you can probably weld tabs back on carefully. I think the tacking strip was glued and stapled.

whoever is doing the top should be able to adress all of your issues , All of your bows seems to be correct ,I don't think a couple of broken tabs should be an issue with the front bow , the shop that did mine used some kind of epoxy to replace the tacking strips in my car. John
