I recently bought 68 chevelle and while rebuilding the carb noticed that there was no choke.(Manual,automatic or otherwise).The carburator is a Holly 650 model 4011 with the dual feed inlet with an Edlebrock performer intake.The car was running fine- I decided that while waiting for the engine overhaul I would rebuild the carb.What would be the advantage in removing the choke?

the theory is that without a choke blade, more air will go thru the carburetor. I have monkeyed around with this on a flow bench and the gains, are debatable. with the blade removed I noticed a 3 cfm gain in airflow on a 600 cfm carb. there may be more there on a larger carb, but on a small one there isnt!

Its more important to me to have a functioning choke than 3 CFM especially on a 600 cfm carb any way when I could just buy a bigger one with more airflow and a choke.
