Anybody have a good place on the net to buy small block crate motors? I actually need 2 of them. One for my lowered '95 Chevy Ext cab which now has over 251,000 miles on the original motor and transmission and is my daily driver. It still runs fine but is getting tired. The other one is for my '66 Chevelle project. So you see, needing 2 motors I need to be as financially frugal as possible. Any help would be more than welcome.

Well, for the 95, they have a 5.7L in Scoggins Dickey catalog for that for $1549.99 for a long block. The also have 350 kit complete carb to pan for $1895.00 (P/N 10067353KIT). That might be good for your Chevelle.

If you want more power for the Chevelle, contact brichards@sandsengines.com. I have not bought anything from him, but I am in "negotiations" with him for a 454. Tell him your power goals and what you want in the motor. He also has a bunch of SBC long blocks for about a grand. Good prices and a nice guy.

Just be sure and add the freight to the total. Big difference in vendors. I bought a ZZ4 from Jegs due to total including freight.

Scoggins Dickey has very good customer service. Fair prices and a good place to do business with, IMO.

I bought a GM crate engine for a '92 Caprice--roller cam, powdered metal rods, etc, from Pace. $200 delivered to the local freight terminal.

I 'spect prices have gone up since I bought it, but to me, it beat the hell out of the usual universal 350 crate engine. It was only a hundred or so dollars more for the roller cam and better rods. At whatever time it gets convenient, you could toss in a better cam and Vortec heads/manifold.

Has about 70,000 on it, with zero problems.

Tell Summit to match these guys prices. These prices are good but the shipping made it not-so-good. Summit shipping was 1/2 price (about 160.00 for me for a BB). Plus you get Summits good customer service.

Actually...looks like they had a price increase so forget it.

Sorry!
