what gas should i run in this engine. 11:1 compression. only have 91 at the pump here in california. would octane booster be enough, or will i have to buy race gas?

Only you can answer this question, does it ping or have detonation on 91? if no 91 is fine. you only need to use the highest octane that keeps your engine from detonating, more octane than you need does your engine no good at all, it's just wasted money out the pipe. so do a little experimenting and see what works best!

My '68 stock L79 Vette needed 93 unleaded...anything less and it would rattle.

John, Is this the same 327 you want to get 20 MPH with?
I have a 327 with .030 flat tops, (Apx 10.5 to 1), the L-79 Cam. and use 91 pumped. The Int. is +14 Deg with curve set to keep the total from coming in too soon. With the raised 11.0 to 1 pistons! ???

different engine, i'd never expect good mileage from this one
