I have a chance to buy a marine spec rebuilt Gen IV 454 that is rated at 330hp @ 4,200 rpm. I would like to put it in my 65 2 door sedan project. I know the cam is pretty mild but I thought it would be a good starting point. I can get it for less than $2,000 maybe $1,600. What do you think?

I am in the process of installing a marine GEN VI 454 in my 64 and my dad runs a marine big block in his Monte. my engine was from fresh water so it was in pretty good shape to start. The research I have done shows these engines putting out some good numbers. I would have your machine shop go over the engine prety good since these boat engines are used to running at high RPMs for long periods of time, I have seen some with cracks in the crank. As far as putting it in your car the only headache I have had was headers.Let me know if there is anything I can help with. Ed

I don't know anything about this seller nor do I endorse his product. However it does sound like it could be a good deal. If you don't mind driving to W.Va. to pick it up.
