I recently started having stalling trouble with my 72 307. Sometimes it will run fine with no problems, but it seems like after it starts to warm up, it will start stalling every time I come to a stop and let go of the gas. I have to try to hold the gas and the break at the same time to keep from stalling. When I am able to keep it running, it is idling very soft and rough, and it will cut out momentarily, and come back when I press on the gas. What could be causing this problem?

This sounds exactly like my problem now. I just had a new GM Crate 350/330 put in my '66 Chevelle, started out great, then after about 300 miles on it, the symptoms described below started showing. I have to pop it in neutral and rev to over 1000 RPMs or it will stall at a light or stop sign. A neighbor told me to check the timing then adjust the Carb(Holley) accordingly. Anyone have any suggetsions?

iv got a 283 2bbl though. It would be great too if someone had a link to a good rochester carb site for info and trouble shooting.

Try disconnecting the choke arm. It may be loading up when it's cold. I had a similar problem with the 307 in my 69. Disconnected the choke, problem solved. If it's not that, the carbureator may need to be rebuilt. Another culprit may be the timing. Set it at 4 degrres BTDC with the advance disconnected and see how it runs.
