I've got A/C on my 68 small block and tall valve covers will not work on mine. There's not enough adjustment in the brackets.

was it just an adjustment problem? pivot
points seem ok.

No, it's not an adjustment problem, the compressor is just too close over the valve cover. I have the short water pump/manifold mounted accessories on mine.
