Hello! I've got a 72' Chevelle with a stock 350 eng. 3947041 camelhump heads (1.94 intake valves)Q-jet w/weiand intake, HEI, and a P.A.W. cam (270/280 -.420/.443 lift and 204/214 dur. at .060). My first question is if this is a good set-up???? and since i'm on a budjet ( who isn't!)what else can i do to get some more HP/TORQUE???. My other question is that the other day I was driving and one of my valves started to tap kind of loud during idle. I adjusted the valve ,tighten the rocker nut 'til the clicking went away, and drove it again. It drove fine for a couple of minutes, until it started to click again and now the higher the RPM the louder it gets. Again I took off the valve covers adjusted the rocker arm ( F.Y.I. the stud checked out OK! and the nut turns tightly) It seems that the nut has to go lower than before to quiet down. Could my lifter be busted?? Thanks for help!

If you installed the cam I hope you used GM EOS to break it in. If not you could be losing a lobe. If you're lucky and it's just the rocker arm adjusting nut backing off try this; adjust it as you always do, then get another stock adj nut and tighten it to hold the other one in place...double nut action. If it starts making noise again, suspect the lobe.
Then again, it could be a collapsed lifter.
Other mods? Headers and duals if you don't already have them.

Hey no worries if it's the cam! You asked what you could do to make more power cheap. A different cam would help http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks Everyone for your replies! I forgot to mention I do have headers, dual exhaust, and flowmasters.
I guess I'll use the clicking noise, to get a new cam( any suggestions??????) and lifters, and maybe roller rockers! Thanks Again to everyone! Alex.
