I need a new carb for my 396. Q-jet on there now. Should I stick w/Q-jet or go to something else? I have plans to rebuild engine (mild build-up). 99% street use.

Thanks

Depends on who you talk to. Most people I know think Q-jet stands for quadra-junk. I believe Holley makes a direct factory replacement for that engine. Holley's have always been a little easier to modify, tune, and rebuild. I actually changed mine out with a Holley, much more reliable now.

Depends on your budget. If your going to rebuild it you may want to look into an aftermarket intake designed for a standard holley bolt pattern. Used aluminum oval port dual planes can be picked up at swap meets or ebay for a decent price. I would pass on picking up a used carb though.
