i am about to install a 572ci, 822.7hp @ 6,400rpm, 737.8tq @ 52-5,300rpm. it is a pump gas engine and i am asking where to look for tips on frame related help due increase in power. it will have a new complete moser 9" with 3;91 and an art carr 200 4r trans. just thinking out loud to cut off any possible problems now while motor is still not in. was a 454 at 500-550hp prior. any and all tips would be appreciated.
thnx; rick, hope i am in the right forum.

i guess i posted in the wrong forum. thought the pro street guys would know about what it takes to keep power on the pavement and not twist up an older frame. sorry

Gotta have a cage to distribute that HP or it is gonna start twisting out and creating weak links. Been there, done that. Also need to box the frame wherever the bars are gonna push the load.

... think about the cage for 'safety'.. .track 'compliance'.. and making use of the hp. With the car twisting up...you will be breaking things.. and or loosing that well deserved hp.

well it looks like a cage is the way to go. over the years i have seen lots of cages and some look ugly or don't fit the car, if that makes sense. if there is a place i can look at some installed in an a body to look at before making a decision. thanx;rick

p.s. would you use store bought or custom with a blue print?

Honestly; and 'Good' chassis shop would install what your looking for. Bend it on sight. Personally something well thought out.. .and 'clean' is my preference.
.
I don't know much about the area you live in, but surely there must be someone up NORTH that can handle this.

All us pro street guys don't know much about making big HP. We just like cars with big tires, big blowers, that make a lot of noise, but don't go anywhere.....:D

Have a Chassis shop with a good rep, build a good cage, and you'll be fine..

What do you want to do with the car? Will it see track time? Just looking for street fun or do you want it to perform to it's capability? If this is more about street fun, chances are the car will never hook hard enough to cause any frame twisting or damage. A cage would be necessary if you plan to race the car, and therefore plan to hook the car.

Have a chassis shop build you a cage to fit you and the car. Remember that a certifiable cage has to fit not only the car but the driver. Door swing out bars are legal and so are the "seat saver" style bars. Make sure you and the builder completely understand each other regarding what it is you want done so there are no surprises. Most guys that can build a cage can brace your frame and box the rails as well.

I agree. If you do decide to get a cage there are a number of good pro chassis shops in the Toronto area. The Chassis Shop and Louch Engineering are 2 of the best.PM me if you need any help. Here is the cage in my MC.
Good luck.
