Hi, I just went to Pomona swap meet and bought an Offenshauser 360 degree series "Dual Port" intake for $80 bucks. Are these pretty good flowing manifolds compared to others. I'm not to familiar with this brand. I was original looking for a Holley Street dominator but the guy only had it in the Q-jet bore. What do you guys think of this intake? Does it perform well? Also does anyone know the RPM range for the intake? Thanks, Eric

Does it have a divider in each port so that it get's it's name dual port from that??

The front barrels feed the top part of each port and the rear barrels feed the bottom part of each port

And does it look like a dual plane intake, but actually it is a single plane intake b/c of the "360" thing meaning open like a single plane.....

It is an economy intake if I recall..

Is it better then stock at least? graemlins/sad.gif

As usual, I can't lay my hands on my OLD Offy cat., but I think it is a decent manifold, but not a hi-po one..

I did find my old, old copy of Petersen's "Basic cams, Valves & Exhaust Systems"..

And if I am looking at the pic's on pages 149 through 151 of it right, it is actually a single plane intake divided down the middle like a dual plane intake and has the primary bores feeding runners that are on top of the bottom runners that are fed by the secondary bores!!!

I do suggest using it AND finding out just how good it is b/c I bet it will work fine on a mild street motor which was what it was designed for if I recall right!!! AND back when gas was high like now too...

I bought an old E-brock's BB version that they called an SP-2P even though they are entirely designed different to play with one of these days for the fun of it..

Econo- type intakes that were used to produce good DCR with low CR motors and crappy gas......

Alright, I guess I'll try it out. It's only going on a bone stock 402. We'll see what happens, thanks for all the info. smile.gif Eric

According to this months " Hot Rod" you better get an RPM Air Gap graemlins/thumbsup.gif

They have super bottom end power but have some serious flow problems at high rpm. If you have a real tall set of gears you may actually like it.

I try to stay away from edelbrock. The Holley Street Dominators and street Avengers flow much better then an RPM air gap. Those holley are taking from the design of the original 1970 LT1 and all they did was make it better.

I'm gonna try it anyways, It has to be better then stock.

Something to keep in mind. On a street driven ( ie. < 6000RPM motor) a 402 will require much less air volume than a 454 or larger. I am using a Performer 2-0 [ports matched to large ovals] on a 408CI motor. While this manifold may not feed a 468 or 496, it does feed a 408 up to 5800 - 6000 even though Edelbrock lists it as idle to 5500. Just like with cams, the 50 CI difference can effect a 500 RPM change in performance dynamics keeping all other things constant. The Offy should work real well in a 402 CI motor with plenty of bottum, mid & top.
