I'm not sure what to call what I am doing, but I have a rusty, dirty convertible that I plan to remove the rust, upgrade to the 21st century, and hopefully have a reliable daily driver that gets decent gas mileage.

I bought it in January and started tearing it apart in February. I have the frame separated and have stripped all of the rust off of the back end and repainted it.
I tackled the body bushing mounting holes this past week and here are the pictures. I will use this thread to post the pics and keep everyone updated. Wish me luck!

Lots of work, time and MONEY !!!!. I'm almost finished with my 66 convertible, another month or two and it wll be on the road. If you have any question on the rebuild let me know, I might be able to help.

oldtimeparts, I hear you about the time and money. But, it gets me away from the TV!

I cleaned up the front half of the frame and painted it. I also assembled the A-arms with the poly bushings and powder coated a lot of the disc brake parts. I bought a four wheel disc break package from Matt's classic bowties for a great price. I hope to have it all assembled and rolling again soon. I'm going to work on installing the LS1 this weekend.

Spent some quality time with the front end these past few nights. I'm using stock springs and aftermarket sway bars from NPD. The disc brake setup is from right stuff detailing. I powdercoated the dust shields and caliper brackets. I did find that enlarging the holes on the steering arms to 1/2" was a real pain in the butt. I must have sharpened and re-sharpened my 1/2" bit at least a dozen times and spent about an hour for the first hole. I then went to ACE hardware and shelled out $20 for a 1/2" bit that said it was for "Hard Metal". That bit sliced right through the hardened metal of the remaining holes. I highly recommend these bits from ACE if you have to drill something that has been hardened. I'm out of parts for the frame, so it is back to the body for more cutting and welding....
