I thought I would ask over here too...

I just found out the old aftermarket "Auto Meter" brand, 3-1/2" tall chrome valve covers that were on my 454 P/U core motor when I got it won't fit under my '67 First Gen's windshield wiper motor!! Plus, I have installed CC's BB Magnum cast roller tipped rocker arms for new replacements for a more accurate lift...

Will a set of stock chrome OR even stock painted BB valve covers work???

Don't know what to do??

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

These might work with your setup.

from what ive read you should be able to use a stock short valve cover and a thick v/c gasket or stack 2 regular gaskets to get the clearance you need.

check these out, they are about twice as thick as a standard bbc v/c gasket.

I used the CC roller tipped rockers on my 69 396 w/stock chrome v/covers and definately had clearance issues even though comp cams hlelp desk said no problems with clearance for stock chrome covers,we all know what thats about, making sales and you could bet they knew it too.

But with that said I had to dbl up on 2 sets of the felpro steel shimmed v/cover gaskets to get the clerance i needed as 2 sets of the stock std cork gaskets were not enough to get the needed clearance.

You can hardly notice it and i have had no oil leaking problems at all.

I used a thin coat of silicon inbetween the 2 sets of gaskets on each cover and there has been zero oil leakage from them in over 3 yrs now apporx 3k miles since rbld.
