I'm tubbing my 64 and wanted to know what I should use as a minimum outer tire clearence to the fenderwell? I've got ET 15x15 w/ 5" BS wheels with MT SR 31x18/15 tires. I'm narrowing a 9" and if I go with a 45" axle flange to flange distance that will give me a tire clearence of 1 3/4 to the outer wheel well. Is that going to be enough clearence?
Thanks
Jim

1 3/4" should be plenty of clearance. I have about 3/4" of clearance on mine and never have any contact.

Thanks for the info Randy. I thought that would be more than enough but thought it would be a good idea to ask somebody who had been there and done that.

I agree that 3/4 inch is the minimum side clearance and I like to have at least 1.5 inch clear at the top.
You should be fine. I have about 2 inch both ways on my drag car project and my 67 Chevelle is at about 3/4 side clearance.

Show some pics of the progress.
