I'm planning my first full engine rebuild and am looking into what parts I am going to want/need. I am going to replace the cam and I wanted to get some opinions first.
First off here's what I've got. I've got a '71 Malibu with an aftermarket 350 (which I don't know much about, it was put there before I bought it) with some vortec heads that I put in. I want something with a little beef to it (a little performance and lopey idle), but nothing extravagant, mainly just a weekend warrior. I just cruise around town and look/sound cool and occasionally drive really fast between redlights. My engine is never pushed past 6000 RPM.
So, here's the questions. Solid or hydraulic? Each has their merits and faults. What do you guys and ladies think?
