Hello TEAM CHEVELLE!
I am currectly rebuilding my 396 and about ready for an air cleaner. I have my sites set on an open element cleaner but am curious which is the best element and why??

...and also, what is the width (bottom to top) in the air cleaner you guys like. I will probably choose between a 14x4" or 14x6".
thanks ahead a time,
wes

I'm using a 14x6 K&N filter with a moroso base and top...I kinda like that K&N top too.

K & N is the way to go for a street car because they flow a lot more than the paper type and are cleanable/re-useable. I remember reading flow tests that stated the K & N flowed 900+ cfm but the paper flowed approx 500-600 cfm on avg. (3"x14" element) So if your running anything over 600cfm for a carb the paper filter will only allow you up to 600 cfm thus limiting your top end H/P.

You can order/get the K & N filters at some auto parts stores, summit, jeg's,etc for approx $30-$40.
