: What block is this?
gigem Feb 19th, 03, 7:42 PM The first part of the code on the pad of the passenger side of the block is CL3320. The last three digits could be 636, 638, who knows? Here's a picture.

Supposed to be a 4-bolt main 454.
The code T0508FPH is stamped just above the timing chain cover.
Thanks in advance!

I tried Mortec, but it didn't help. That website lists casting numbers. I think the casting number is on the back of the block, on the driver's side. I can't get to it right now. I was hoping that these other codes might tell me what I wanted to know...

gigem Feb 19th, 03, 8:58 PM My brain just clicked. The guy I bought this car from dealt with motor homes for a living. He built this engine. I bet this is a block from a motor home engine. That's probably not a good thing...

phocksphyre Feb 19th, 03, 9:31 PM Fritz,
Nothing wrong with a 454 from an RV. At least you know it spent its life in the low RPM range, and usually had decent maintenance. Good source for rebuilders.

Makes sense. Can you confirm my RV hunch from these codes?

Thanks for the info!! Where did you find this?
Hey, maybe this is a motor out of one of those SS 454 chevy trucks! I like the sound of that...

Those SS454 trucks were dogs, plus a newer 454 like that will have the small "peanut" port heads which are not ideal for a performance app.
The motor itself would be nice though, depends on price.
