: What type of wires do I buy?

Small block stock engine. Not interested in hi-performance. Want good radio reception. I do want high heat resistance(running headers).
Do I buy solid core wires or spiral core?

Note* Using stock points distributor.

What do think of Taylor brand?

Taylors are great and priced about the same as stock crappy wires. Always used them with an Hei and dual points.

If you go through a lot of hammers each month, I don't think it necessarily means you're a hard worker. It may just mean that you have a lot to learn about proper hammer maintenance. (Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey)

I run taylor wires. Have HEI and an MSD box and headers. No problems so far.

I'm happy with Taylor's, too. Go with spiral cores.

If you want stock type wires, go to NAPA and get their wires.

AC Delco is one to the best. But you have to get them by application. No universal sets.

Paul, I've alwys used the universal Taylor 8MM sets, in black with 180 boots for the stock look. My first set were solid. Contrary to popular opinion ( or due to some B-field phenomena in my engine bay, and I dont mean Kurt either!) my 67 am radio reception was EXCELLENT with the solid cores. You cant break 'em, they last ALOT longer and they did not affect my radio reception. NO FM though.

( Spiral cores and an MSD sure as heck did though ).

Hate to have ya spend $50 and find out the reception is bad ... it wasnt for me.

Nevertheless, very happy with Taylor's so far. Had a few "anomolies" in my last set, and I double checked my measurements, where shorter lengths of wire where showing more resistance than the long ones. ??? I had two sets so, I made 8 good , but.. Odd ...it was the short 7 wire showed almost 2500 ohms, and it should have been 500-700 or so?

SOLID CORES WOULD HAVE BEEN 0 OHMS!!!

theres some spark for ya!

I've been running the MSD Super Conductors. This is the only MSD product I have and I'm very happy with their wires. Much lower resistance.

I could tell the difference instantly when I put them on. Where I used to have to turn the starter for about a second, now I bump it and the engine fires to life.

I had the old blue Accel Super Stock wires before. Nothing to brag about.

I have a complete MSD ignition. MSD 6AL ignition box, pro billet distributor blaster 2 coil and 8.5mm super conductor wires. I have had this set-up for four years and have had no problems with it, I also think my engine runs and accelerates smoother with the MSD ignition
