Undo the two bolts that holds it on, then when you put the new pump on, and let me tell you this can get tricky but you will have to hold the push rod up with a screw driver just long enuff to get the pump actuator under it, then you may have to have to compress the fuel pump to get the bolt holes to line up.

When I replaced my first one a few people told me you can sometimes put a thick grease on the push rod to hold it in place long enuff to get the pump actuator under it.....others told me you can insert a bolt that's pretty long into the front side of the block near the fuel pump push rod to hold the rod up. I tried both but neither worked for me.....maybe they will work for you.

Also another guy told me if it's a bitch to compress the fuel pump to get the bolt holes to line up you can bump the engine so the rod can be pushed up even further just enuff to get the pump mounted onto the side of the block.

On all SBC's ive seen and yours should be no different. There is a bolt in the front of the block that is right in line with the fuel pump rod. The bolt is short but if you take it out and replace it with a 3/8 or 5/16? that is longer it will go through too the fuel pump rod too hold it in place. Raise the rod all they way and tighten the bolt and then install fuel pump. You should only have too finger tighten the long bolt too hold it and dont forget too take it out and put the short one back in. This is simple too do but try too put it in without doing this because sometimes they go in with little effort.

I don't have a front bolt in my small block. What I do is hold the rod up with the flat end of a hack saw blade. Insert the pump and draw the hack saw blade out.

I used a flat blade screwdriver on mine...a little tricky but worked.
