Hey all,
I have got an oil leak that I just can't locate.
I have oil running down above where the filter mounts and oil on the starter bolts on the other side.On the driver side I can see oil at the back corner where the head meets the block and it runs down from there.

I have checked the oil sending unit, back of manifold and can't see oil near the valve covers.
Where can it be comming from ?

sounds like the valve cover gasket not seating properly on the corners closest to firewall nearest the fender. very problamatic area usually. take em off and look at the impression on them (gasket) and this will tell you if thats the trouble spot. good luck. jason.

I'd be looking really close at the spot where the intake and block meet. The other possibilities are valve covers, distributor gasket, oil sending unit.

Thanks !
Anywhere else I need to check as the places(back of manifold and valve covers)mentioned above are dry.

When the engine was rebuilt, did the oil plug on the back of the block get put back in? It goes underneath the rear portion of the head and is nearly unseen once the head is bolted on. This sometimes gets forgotten after a rebuild. That could be your problem, but a lot of work to fix. Head has to come off.
