I really need a Holley intake for my '67 SS clone and came across this "BB Holley intake #3866948 dated D 6 6, $80" I called him and he said there is nothing wrong with it. I think it's an o.k. buy. Whats your input? Is it an o.k. price? Would it be best to have it machined?
thanks!

Wes,
If you are going to pay $80 for it, then maybe another $40 to get it glass beaded to look real nice, and if it does need machining on the intake gasket surface (another $60) ... You might as well just get a new one.
Just my opinion,

I have a bead blaster. I just thought since it's an original '66 intake and not a reproduction that it might be worth it.
thanks for the reply Bill!

It's worth about $100 to $125 for a #s correct application if it ONLY needs cleaned up. I have seen these sell for $50 to $75, but that's below value. You can check E-Bay to see what they have been selling for, but shipping that heavy thing will cost.

If it's in good shape,$80 is reasonable.Make sure you remove the tray attached to the bottom of the intake before you sandblast it.

Check the area around the upper 4 bolt holes (between the ports) the early manifolds are not real thick there and if you overtighten the upper bolts they will crack right around the bolt hole into the port.

Thanks guys!
The neat thing is that the $80 includes shipping! I'm going to send away for it because I need it. Does anyone know if this is a retangular or oval port? Again: cast 3866948, dated mid '66.
thanks!
