: Performer intake heater hose boss - weldable?

I have a crack where the heater hose nipple screws into the front of a Performer intake on my small block. Should I weld it, or pitch it?

It had been leaking a teeny amount over the winter. Tightened it maybe 1/4 turn....

Is this common with the Edelbrock manifolds?

p.s. There may be a silver lining in all of this. I had been wanting to try my '68 Corvette cast iron intake again, but with the addition of a heat shield. graemlins/beers.gif

As its is made of an aluminium alloy, it's weldable. But it's not something you can do at home, as you need a TIG-welding equipment.

Check with your local companies, someone should be able to fix it!

I don't belive it's a common Edelbrock problem, as I have a Performer intake on my '72 Chevelle, you could have overtightened it?

I think you can also weld aluminum with a Mig machine. But either way it is easily fixable and most welding shopd should be able to do it.

I've got a friend that can weld it for me. Glad it's fixable, because the Performer is a pretty sweet manifold + this one has already been drilled for an oil fill tube up front.
