I am putting a 700R4 in my 72 chevelle. I was wondering if I would have to make any modifications to the console. I have heard that you have to get a new shift detent plate, and i would like to find a new lens that has all four gears labeled on it. If any of you guys know where i can find these parts, or if i need the shift detent plate, i would greatly appreciate it.

I have seen Year One & Original Parts Group offer conversion kits for the 700R4. I used an OPG TH350 kit and it worked out perfectly in my 64. They aren't too pricey either.

Hope it Helps

JChevelle72, Shiftworks is the name of the company the makes the kit you are looking for. It contains the detent, the lens, instructions, etc. I'm sorry I don't have their phone # handy, but I'm sure someone will kick in real soon with it.
