every time I have posted a pic using the attach (paper clip icon) it is posted as a thumbnail but I would like to put a pic or two full screen so you do not have to click on it to see it....

thanx

YourLinkToImageHere.

Place your link to the image in between the brackets like above. it will be full size. The size will be whatever the actual image is.

What i do is paste the image address into the post then, manually put the [img] before and after. you need the slash(/) in the img on the end.

Got to the "test drive" section of the forum to test it out.

If you click the "Quote" button on the lower right of this post, you will see the address of the images with the tags before and after.

In order to get full size pics in a post, they need to be hosted on the web somewhere, like imageshack or photobucket, or your own webspace. You put the photo's EXACT internet address (a.k.a. url) in between the open/close IMG codes with the brackets.

Another thing to keep in mind is if you want the picture to be full screen, it has to start out that size.

this one is 800px × 533px

You CAN do it from your hard drive but it's more trouble than it's worth.

You can upload as an attachment like you did the boat picture the click on that thumbnail to enlarge it, then highlight and copy that url from your address bar and paste that into a post (or edit the original post) and add ahead of it and after it.

The above is how I posted the bigger boat picture.

When you click on the boat thumbnail, the URL to the bigger picture it brings up is

Right, once you uploaded it, it now lives on our server.

It's a lot easier to start a photobucket account BUT pictures displayed from there are not permanent like they are if they are living on our server because if you ever close your photobucket account or delete that picture from your account people will get the "red X" in that particular post from then on.

one more thing Dean , what is a good size to save my pics at for a nice full screen , my camera takes huge 4 to 5 meg pics that you would take up 25 screens so i will rezize them before i put them to photobucket or image shack...
what is ideal here

I size mine at 1000 wide but it depends on how big your monitor is I suppose.
A picture too wide posted here causes folks to have to scroll back and forth so around 800-900 or so is probably good.

Hey Dean... when someone posts a pic as an attachment. when its clicked and it opens how come moving the scroll wheel on the mouse takes it back to the thread. Wouldn't it be better if it made the pic bigger like it does with windows. i think that would solve a lot.

I don't know why it does that but if you click again it doesn't do it.
I always right click and open in a new tab myself.

Your carburetor picture is 1024 px wide.

I use Tinypic alot these days to put up a single image.

www.tinypic.com

Browse your computer for the pic you want to upload, then select the size you want to upload it as. When it's done uploading, select the code you want to use to display it. They have one with the [img] tags already. When you click on it and it turns black, it's automatically copied to your clipboard, then just right click and paste where you want it in your message reply box. Easy. You don't even need an account with them.
