: EFI fuel system, tank ?'s
blue66 Feb 20th, 11, 12:51 AM What's everybody doing for fuel tanks?
Anybody running say a Robbmc 1/2" sender in a stock tank? Feeding an electric pump?
Looking to feed 600+hp and 150 nitrous.
Thinking A1000, bypass reg for efi, seperate deadhead reg for nitrous.
Is this doable or looking for trouble?
How loud is the A1000 pump at 45psi?
$2000.00 for a Ricks tank with internal A1000. Ouch!
Would a walbro 255 keep up to just the engine?
Seems there are many people out there using those little external HP pumps pulling from the stock pickup on the street, but will they last long being outside the tank?
Trying to sort out a fuel system for a buddies car we are thinking about EFI on.
Thanks! Brian
rvanburen Feb 20th, 11, 9:47 AM i am not running fi yet but i did buy a trunk lid from robmc he lives close to me he was showing me some of his stuff and that 1/2 sender is a very nice piece i will be buying it when i get closer on my project realy nice guy to deal with too
64duece Feb 20th, 11, 11:56 AM Have you considered running a dry nitrous configuration? Would allow you to delete the other regulator and offer better fuel distribution when the nitrous is applied.
I prefer sump whenever the application allows with the largest inlet available. We have used pickups with pretty good success aswell...a little small for an A1000 (-10 recommended) but, you should be ok. Make sure you avoid restrictive fittings, use a 100 micron prefilter and quality 10 micron post filter to keep the pump happy and injectors clean.
Doug F. Feb 20th, 11, 12:39 PM 255 feeds 650 HP.
I use a single 255 on mine NA and have a second when I spray.

Was originally planning to use the Fast ez-efi ecu in a multiport configuration.
Hadn't really thought about a dry setup. It is for a customers/friends car who is not tuning or computer saavy at all. Trying to keep it simple.
A dry setup could work too. If the cost gets too high, he will stick with just a new carb. But I really think he would like to do the EFI....It is a 90% street car 68 GTO, with a 505" pontiac. 2004r OD trans. Hyd roller, Butler ported E-heads. I am afraid if he ever does spray it the trans will not be happy about it :D

Doug, in tank or out?
How is your fuel system configured?

What about the new Holley setup? I've read a little about it.
It is for a pontiac so I will be using an Edelbrock EFI ready intake and the matching rails. No need for the chevy intakes in the kits I've seen.
And don't want a TBI setup.
Thanks guys. Brian
Doug F. Feb 21st, 11, 1:10 PM I run a 10 gallon cell that feeds pump gas to one 255 pump. I then have a second 5 gallon cell with 110 in it for when I spray. The 5 cell has two outlets that feeds the first 255 pump and a second. I have a Y fitting wiht shutoffs to swap from either fuel cell on the first pump. The outlets of both pumps (-6) feed into a single Y (-8 out) to the engine. Then I have a -6 return. At the tanks there is a ball valve to direct the return to either tank. It works very well. The pumps have a checkvalve internally as they are designed so you the one pump doesn't feed back into the other.
If you can understand that, I'll be amazed... Ask me about it for clarification.
You can see the results some others have had with the new Holley EFI on TC. I won't act like a salesman over the EZ EFI. PM me if you have questions. All I will say though is a big advantage is the Avenger EFI (no laptop needed like EZ) is the same ECU as the HP, so you can add a laptop in, and have nitrous controls, etc, later. However, the Avenger comes with all the hardware (intake or throttle body), so there isn't a plug and play deal for your engine.
The HP has the same self tuning fuel table. I would recommend it for your application although the "Avenger" could be made to work.

Doug, I totally understand it......Pump gas to one pump, switchable to 110 to both pumps. Return is switchable to either tank. Very good idea.....I drew it out on paper as I read it. Make sense!
So I would need the HP ECU and a set of injectors, as the Avenger is not available independently, just in full kit form? Then use the Edelbrock intake and rails. And make up my own fuel system. Is that correct?
Thanks for your help,
Brian
Doug F. Feb 21st, 11, 7:34 PM The avenger is available in kit form via a couple PN's. That would work.
