I wanted to post here first before i go look at this car..Its a 69 convertible.. Is there any surprise places to look for rust on these that would be different from a hard top?? I know it will need floor work and i assume the patches would be the same as a hardtop.. Please correct me if i'm wrong..Any insight would help.

I hear the frame mounts are known to rust out, i think i remember sombody saying the rears behind the wheel... Just repeating what i heard tho, might be worth laying under there with a little pick.

Anywhere and everywhere. The lower door hinge posts are prone to rust/rot, the cowl, cowl shoulders, trunks, floors, rockers, etc. On the frame, the body mount areas are hit or miss. I have to repair 3 on my convertible and there is a small spot of frame rot along one of the rails that goes up and over the rear axle.

Just wanted to update on the car.. I never thought i'd say it but this is one classic that needs to be put to sleep.. Its wasn't finding the rust that was a problem it was finding a spot with no rust.. It had 68 fenders that were rotten. Car was hit previously and had frame damage on the driver front.. Convertible top frame was bent, No floors Other then moldy carpet that was sabbing. Inner wheelhouses were gone. Pass. door wouldn't open but was rotten through, Driver door opened but sagged a lot when opened. Rockers were shot... The only good part i saw was the left tail light assembly.. Car was a 6 cylinder.. :( East coast winters put the car through hell and back then to hell again..Sad day in chevelle land:sad:
