On Machine work? Lets say the works for a 454 from an RV with a spun rod bearing. I only get the block(most likely a 2 bolt) the crank, and the rods.

I'm assuming I'll need a hot tanking,magnafluxing, cylinder boring, rod resizing, MAYBE a decking.... anything else?

The crank will likely be trash. I would bet the spun bearing is from severe detonation pounding the rod bearings. In such a case, the crank will not only be scarred from the spun bearing, but FULL of cracks.

Tj is probably right about the crank, about 80% of the time when they have hammered a rod bearing, they end up cracked. I am going to list some prices, but they vary a bit in different areas:
Oven clean block ... $ 90
Bore and hone with torque plates .. $230
Deck if needed .. $100
Install new cam bearings and freeze plugs $50
Install new pistons on rods .. $50
Recondition rods $100, bolts are additional.
If the crank happens to mag ok, its $140 to regrind it.

You will probably need to replace at least two rods, the one that spun the bearing and possibly the one next to it. BB rods are not that expensive, I have a box of them that we have saved just for this purpose.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm aiming for the budget big block build that some guys around here do. Do you think $250 for this engine is out of line? I bet he'd probably take $200 cash in hand for the block, crank, and rods. The heads were peanuts. This thing came from an RV and if I remember correctly it was a 2 bolt main. I only am shooting for 500-600 hp. I'll run nitrous to get the dip into the 11's I want.

I dont know about down in your area, but up here decent used 454 blocks are selling in the $400- $500 range. If it spun a bearing, I would figure that all you are getting is a decent block.
