I'm pretty sure you can't, but I just wanted to confirm. Is there a way to stroke a 400 small block?

Also, just as a side question, what cars did the 400 blocks normally come in? Were they standard order or something? Know this probably isn't the right forum, but since I'm here asking anyway..

Sure you can but generally you need to use a Dart block to gain more room with any stroke past about a 3.875'er.. And a 4.00" or longer stroke even with a Dart block is like trying to pack 5 pounds of sugar in a 3 pound bra per, "I love the Lady", Miss Dolly!!!!!

You can grind the 400 crank down to 2.00" and and gain like .090" more stroke out to like a 3.84", but generally this isn't done b/c it has a cast crank instead of the stronger forged type.

PS., I think it was Sonny Leonard who made a 4.25" Bore x 4.44" stroke = 504" SB motor!! Talk about a one-off special motor!!
