: Need some 69 Convertible Pic's
brix0709 Feb 12th, 11, 4:57 PM Looking for some help. I am near finished with my restoration of my 69 SS Convertible, but need some pictures of the top of the front window with the top down. Specifically the area between the top of window chrome and the pieces that are behind the sun visors. Is this area the body color, covered with cloth or vinyl? This would be the area that the header bow, latches down on top of.
Thank you for the help.

The black across the header panel is an imbossed grain similar to the grain pattern of the dash pad. Very difficult piece (2 pieces) to find because it's typically rusted and it's tough to recondition and maintain the grain pattern.

brix0709 Feb 12th, 11, 8:45 PM Are you referring to the two pieces that mount on the inside edge of the front window? They would have the visor posts going through and would meet at the rear view mirror?
If so, I have them. I am looking at what is on top of the frame between those pieces and the stainless trim that runs along the top of the window glass.

what you are asking about is a vinyl piece glued to the top of the windshield frame, i replace the same piece on my 68 with a grain pattern vinyl piece.
that is what was original in the 68. i recall seeing the same type of material on the 70's cars

Andy69 Feb 25th, 11, 11:38 AM Mine was fastened down with some kind of fabric glue, pretty sure it was original when I removed it.

You're welcome, Loren.

Yes, I think they used the same stuff they used to glue a vinyl top to the roof.
1badss396 Feb 25th, 11, 6:51 PM Yes it is glued on.
72convertibless454 Feb 25th, 11, 9:43 PM I went to Joanne fabric and bought some vinyl fabric that had the same grain for my 72 convertible.
