I mounted mine on the inside of the firewall, behind glovebox. There are a couple of pix on site. Click on button labeled "inside" on grump1.com site below.

Here is a pic from before I got my engine back in. If you need, I can snap a shot tonight(with engine in), it might give you a better feel for how it's mounted..

MSD mounting (http://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=showMyPhoto&albumID=130708136&photoID=130708406&security=qHRLHJ)

The one thing that I have changed since that pic, was that I drilled a hole behind the 6-AL & ran the power wire, as well as the blower motor wire throught the cowel. Now the wires will be concealed behind the inner fender..

Mine is in the same spot mounted on the firewall.

Getting it inside the car is the best method, as it keeps it away from engine heat. Heat will shorten the lifespan of the unit.

However, I had and still have my MSD box under the hood in the same spot as riskyvt's pic. When the car was still my daily driver I put over 50K miles on it and never had a single problem.

The other good option is to tuck it on the inner fender behind the headlights near the battery. That way it gets cooling airflow from the front of the car when moving and is fairly insulated from the engine heat. If you tuck it off to the side of the battery it will be almost hidden and you won't lose any interior room.

Whats the difference between the Blaster 2 and the Blaster 3 coil?

The Blaster 3 coil has a unique power tower that is twice as high as a standard tower, the extra distance prevents secondary voltage from arching between the primary terminals and the coil center. The Blaster 2 coil puts out 45,000 volts, 15,000 more than stock and also has an oil filled canister and fit stock mounting brackets. The Blaster 2 does not have the taller tower like the Blaster 3, thats about the only difference I see.

And as for the location of mounting the MSD box mine is mounted above the heater box like riskyvt, it's been there for five years and no problems (knock on wood).

Can't, its hidden, Behind battery mounted on a piece of hardwood that's bolted to the inner fenderwell. Away from heat, vibration, and even water. Perfect imho.

Thanks guys,

I wasnt sure if you guys were mounting some of the bolts through the cowl area?? Jeff K, is that red box like a junction box with all your electrical in it?? Looks pretty good, where is your heater core connection though??

The red box was the control unit for the BG fuel injection I had. But that's another story. Here's a more recent picture:

The heater and a/c connections are on the left. I have an aftermarket underdash system.
