what is the best way to do this? i am switching from a edelbrock 750 performer(mech sec.) to a 650 speed demon(Vacc sec.) for my 327in my 68 malibu. Should i fill them through the vent tubes? any help would be great.
Also- what type of throttle/trans kickdown cable changes will i need to make for this switch(i have a TH350)?
thanks again- eric

Vent tubes should work just fine for pre-filling the bowls. Don't know about the throttle and transmission linkages.

I recently picked up some very small funnels from the local Beverages and More (large liquor store). That was about the only place I could find them small enough...

Before I had them, I placed a long/small screw driver (any stiff wire will do) down the vent tube, and with a small cup, poured the gas slowly with the rod touching the edge of the cup... The gas traveled down the rod and into the vent tube (make sure the rod is much smaller than the vent-like a coat hanger, etc), barely spilling any...

I imagine the throttle should just hook right up, but maybe need a demon/Holley specific bracket for the kickdown cable (might still work)..

I found a neat trick by using the site plug holes and one of the 'one-man-brake-bleeder' kits that have the cup with two extensions coming out the top. I put a small piece of hose over one of the tubes and the other hole is used for air to get into it. Then just stick the end of the hose in the site plug hole and tip it upside down.

Of course, I'm not an expert on the Demon carbs... do they have the clear site plugs that don't come out? That could pose a problem! I've just tried to use the vent tubes and ended up just making a huge mess as they backed up right away and fuel didn't seem to be going in.

Best of luck,
Bill C.

An Ear syringe in the front vent tube. I put enough in 'till it squirts good on the accel. pump. I've used the caps or nozzles off of gear lube containers for little funnels too. Also I've cut up some oil containers to catch a float bowl full of gas if you need to remove a float bowl. I use those on other peoples cars, I just let it run out on my junk. It washes away a little grease and goo.

thanks for the input and help. Now what about the kickdown and the throttle cable. Could they still work like L78 said?
