I want to drain all the gas from my tank and put in fresh. I just bought a 62 impala and I think it has sat for a long while. How can I get it all out?

1)Pull it off and drain by hand. :(
2)Drill hole in bottom, drain, plug. smile.gif
3)Pull tank, install fuel cell.

If it has a fuel return line you can pull both
lines off of the fuel pump and using a blow
nozzle, blow air into the tank using the return
line. This will cause the fuel to flow out of the
suction line. once fuel starts to flow it will
normally siphon it's self till the tank is empty.

Gravity feed your carb from another container and run the engine with the fuel pump discharging into your storage container.

Or siphon.

I like the return line Idea. Where would the return line be located if I had one?

It would be at the fuel pump, a second line
coming from the fuel tank.

run a hose into the tank and put the other end in a bucket.
take an air hose wrap a rag around both hoses and hold against the filler neck. start the air and it will come.

My friend, if your car has an electric pump what you need to do is take out the hose coming from the fuel pump to the carb put the hose in a container and put the switch on without starting the car. The pump will do the work for you. If the car has the original mechanical pump you will need to do the same but you will need to keep starting the car (which will not turn on) until is empty. (watch out for the battery)
Good Luck
